National Crime Victims’ Rights Week

Each year, millions of Americans are victims of crime. April 21-27 is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW), a time to raise awareness of options, services, and hope for crime survivors. Many victims need ongoing care, support, and resources.

MLSA has a Crime Victim practice group consisting of a navigator and attorneys who provide help to victims of crime with their rights and other legal issues related to the crime.

The Crime Victim Navigator assists victims by:
-serving as an initial point of contact;
-helping people through our application process;
-working with attorneys as needed to support client communication; and
-recommending wrap-around services.

MLSA’s Crime Victim Attorneys empower victims by:
-providing legal advice and representation;
-teaching victims about their rights;
-giving victims a voice in offender prosecution; and
-accessing victim compensation/restitution.
