An MLSA intake worker will help you apply over the telephone. The application will take about 10 minutes. Visit What to Expect When You Call the Helpline to learn more about what will happen when you call.  The  intake worker will tell you if you can get MLSA services.  MLSA cannot take every case.  Visit the Eligibility Guidelines to learn more about that.

Don't wait until the last minute to call us about an emergency!  Sometimes, if you wait too long, there will be nothing we can do to help you.  The earlier you call us, the easier it will be for both you and us.

"But your phones are always busy!"

The Helpline gets many calls and it can be hard to get through. We want to hear from you, so please keep trying. The phones are especially busy on Mondays and Fridays and first thing in the morning. So try us at different times.

Are there other ways to apply?

Yes!  Visit the Apply for Legal Services page to get an application form.  If you can't apply over the phone or with your computer, visit the Office Locations page to find an MLSA office and get an application there.

"I just have a simple question. Where can I go for answers?"

Visit www.MontanaLawHelp.org.
