Applicants and tenants of certain HUD rental assistance programs may not be denied housing, evicted, or have their housing assistance terminated because they have experienced:
-domestic violence;
-dating violence;
-sexual assault; or
-stalking.
Additionally, survivors are able to ask for an emergency housing transfer for safety reasons. These protections fall under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). HUD has a new VAWA webpage that features FAQs on housing protections. It also has forms and resources for survivors. You can find the link and more information on MontanaLawHelp.org. A los solicitantes e inquilinos en programas de asistencia de alquiler de HUD no se les puede negar la vivienda, desalojar o cancelar asistencia de vivienda si han sido víctimas de:
