Five Veteran Stand Downs span Montana this autumn

Five Veteran Stand Downs will take place in the months of September and October across Montana in Helena, Poplar, Hamilton, Great Falls and Libby.

The concept of the Veteran Stand Down was created by two Vietnam veterans, Robert Van Keuren and Dr. Jon Nachinson. In 1988, they held the first Veteran Stand Down in the city of San Diego. Since then, Stand Downs have grown in popularity, and events are now held in close to two hundred locations across the nation every year.

The goal of a Veteran Stand Down is to provide homeless veterans with life's necessities: food, clothing, and healthcare, as well as other resources such as job counseling and legal advice. More than just these valuable services, Stand Downs provide struggling veterans with a sense of community and acceptance.

The five Veteran Stand Downs are listed below with their date, time, and location. Stand Downs with an asterisk next to them indicate that Montana Legal Services Association will be present and tabling at the event.
