MLSA Staff Attorney to Assist With Legal Organization in Cambodia

From Caroline Riss, MLSA Staff Attorney:I have been invited by The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center (MC) of The University of Montana (UM) to travel to Cambodia for three weeks in August. The program is supported by the U.S. Department of State and the Women’s Empowerment Exchange Program for Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. “The program has a focus on increasing local capacity and connectivity and the program themes include the environment; economic development; health; safety and security; strong families; and education.”Twenty English-speaking Southeast Asian women came to Montana in May and now the American counterparts will be going to Southeast Asia. I will be assisting at Legal Support for Children and Women. I am looking forward to working with the Cambodian counterparts and learning about their legal system. For more information please visit:http://www.umt.edu/mansfield/WomensEmpowermentProject/PFP_Overview.pdfhttp://www.umt.edu/mansfield/WomensEmpowermentProject/default.aspxI would like to thank my employers at Montana Legal Services Association for supporting this exchange program – I promise to represent MTLSA and the United States of America to the best of my ability!Photos, stories and experiences to come soon!
