March is the Final Month to Take Advantage of Health Insurance Special Enrollment Period for Those Who Need to File 2014 Taxes

If you tried to enroll in healthcare coverage on the federal Marketplace earlier this year and were told you were ineligible for coverage because you had not filed your 2014 taxes or reconciled your 2014 advance payment premium tax credit (APTC), you may be able to enroll in healthcare coverage through a newly announced Special Enrollment Period (SEP) from February 1, 2016 through March 31, 2016.
 

To be eligible, you must:

  • not be currently enrolled in 2016 coverage through the Marketplace;
  • not be receiving an APTC in 2016 because you had not filed your 2014 taxes, and
  • file your 2014 taxes and reconcile your 2014 APTC prior to March 31, 2016.
